But the individuals who are unfairly labelled can experience negative consequences such as stigmatization and discrimination. To raise awareness about the harm of these labels, in 2016, The New Charis Mission (TNCM) initiated the “Unlabelled Run”, a 5km fun run and 10km competitive run, to advocate the removal of these harmful labels.
More than just a run, it is a clarion call to everyone that we must unite to build an inclusive, cohesive, and compassionate society. That is why Unlabelled Run advocates the removal of prejudicial labels in our society. The New Charis Mission seeks the creation of a greater awareness of unlabelling via the Unlabelled Movement.

The Rationale Behind The Design
"For the 10th Anniversary of the Unlabelled Run, this design represents the purifying power of fire. The fiery texture within the barcode symbolizes the heat of the race and the passion of the community as they work to burn away the labels and stigmas that hold people back. It’s not just a run; it’s a decade of igniting change and emerging stronger from the flames."
How The Design Reflects Unlabelling
Fire is a universal symbol for transformation. In this context, the "unlabelling" process isn't just about removing a sticker; it’s about a trial by fire. The glow represents the brilliant, authentic self that is revealed once the "charcoal" of stereotypes and stigmas is burned off.
A Label The Designer Has Let Go Of
I was once labelled “overweight” and underestimated because of it. I let go of that label and chose discipline over doubt. Today, I define myself by effort, growth, and resilience — not by a word others used to describe me.
